Name brands are not better. In fact, they are usually worse. The name brand companies tend to use proprietary motherboard form factors. To replace your motherboards (in order to upgrade the processor) you have to replace the case as well.

I just recently started a page on computer history links which may be useful to those considering a used machine.
These Resellers have clearance areas
The following vendors are Pond Scum and should not be dealt with.
These assholes subscribed me to a mailing list without my consent. This is completely unacceptable and an order of magnitude worse than ordinary unsolicited email; therefore, I am boycotting their products and encouraging everyone else to do the same. This behavior will not be tolerated. I am boycotting their products until July 28, 2007; on that date, if and only if they have committed no additional offenses against me or others, I will consider the possibility of doing business with them.
